The Study

Overview

The transition period from childhood to adolescence is a critical time to identify and prevent future emotional health conditions. Over half of adolescents have poor sleep health. Poor sleep during the transition from childhood to adolescence predicts future emotional health outcomes more strongly than other times in development.

In the SleepLife study, our goal is to use sleep monitoring and electronic health record data to identify which sleep patterns are most closely linked to emotional health outcomes among youth engaged in primary care. The long-term goal of the SleepLife study is to develop tools that help providers, families, and teens identify and treat sleep patterns that put youth at risk for emotional health consequences.
